The title Logica in Communicatie (Logic in Communication)
points to the general problem area, of which two central
aspects are elaborated in this cahier: questions
and the dynamics of beliefsmore technically, erotetic
logic and belief revision. Both aspects play an important
role in both our everyday reasoning and in the sciences.
The leading proposals in the literature only apply to highly
idealized agents, and thus they are practically useless:
actual agents are not logically omniscient, nor do they
hold a consistent set of beliefs.
By relying on results from adaptive logics, the author
succeeds in generalizing the leading proposals in such a
way that they also can be sensefully applied to less idealized
agents. The meta-theory of this new logics is worked out
in full technical detail.
The cahier is introduced by Diderik Batens and Joke Meheus. |
